Perioscience AO Gel
A topical antioxidant gel formulated to sooth soft tissue in the oral cavity. We recommend this AO gel to patients with gum inflammation or after oral surgery.
We found for patients receiving oral surgery, that this gel has been very soothing and comforting more than anything. And we also found it helps tissues heal about 30% faster, as noted anecdotally. It is also very holistic as it contains all natural ingredients. It was invented by a periodontist that Dr. Saylor has studied with.

CloSYS Healthy Gums Mouth Rinse
The CloSYS mouthwash kills germs that cause gingivitis, plaque, and bad breath. It can help reverse early signs of gum disease, and can be recommended to patients with sensitive gums or dry mouth.
Dr. Saylor says it kind of tastes like pool water, it’s very mild but has a slight chlorine taste to it. He uses it after a night of heavy Italian food tinged with garlic and palate staining. He realizes that after using CloSYS there is no remnant of the garlic anywhere. We also recommend this mouthwash for a spouse that may come in complaining about a partner’s halitosis, we can gently recommend this as part of their armamentarium.

We recommend this toothpaste to patients with a medium to high biological/biomechanical risk, meaning existing cavities or a high risk of getting cavities. The fluoride with nano-hydroxyapatite together create fluorapatite, which is more resistant to demineralization, a huge bonus when the goal is prevention. The slightly basic to neutral pH helps neutralize acids in the mouth that are produced by bacteria. The xylitol contributes to cavity prevention and reduces plaque buildup.

Dr. Ginger’s Coconut Oil Toothpaste
This is Dr. Saylor’s favorite toothpaste of the moment. It can be found in Sprouts Farmers Market. He likes this toothpaste because it is all natural, no Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, and it doesn’t leave a chemical taste in your mouth. It also tastes good, especially if you love coconut. The coconut oil is antibacterial and good for your gum health. Note that due to the oil it leaves a residue in your sink, and it is not as thick as regular toothpaste, so a little goes a long way. These compromises are well worth the benefits.

Xylimelts
A small, oral-adhering disc that dissolves to relieve dry mouth by stimulating saliva flow.
Saliva production can decrease as side effects from medications, other medical conditions, or from aging. The lack of saliva can contribute to increased incidence of dry mouth, dental caries and gum disease.
These Xylimelts are safe to use while sleeping, because they stick and stay on the gum. You can place them at the roof of your mouth before bed to improve quality and quantity of salivary production and protect your oral cavity as you sleep.
